(WTNH) — As the weather gets warmer, wildlife officials are reminding people not to feed waterfowl bread. While pinching off pieces and tossing it out may seem like a good thing to do, it can cause ducks, geese and swans to develop severe or even fatal health problems.Stratford Animal Control in Connecticut issued a public safety announcement after a goose was rescued from a local pond with a hook in its leg. After the rescue, animal control officers discovered the goose and several others in the pond had a condition called angel wing. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Since last Saturday, high temperatures in Austin at Camp Mabry had stayed under the 100º mark, but today ended our 6 day "cooler" stretch. We reached 102º Saturday afternoon and expect similar, if not slightly warmer temperatures for the next week or more as high pressure builds to our west.High pressure in controlWith the higher temperatures, and plenty of humidity, heat advisories have been issued from the National Weather Service for the Austin Metro and our eastern counties where heat index values (feels-like temperatures) may exceed 105º.Heat Advisory from Sunday afternoon through Monday eveningWhile rain chances are almost non-existent, there's been a recent hint in our computer models wanting to pop-up very isolated storms near and east of I-35 on Monday and Tuesday. I'll wait for a bit more agreement among other models before putting higher rain chances on our 7-day forecast, but just know that it's something we're looking at (and hoping for). The area of hig...Surprise: Twins starter Pablo López named All-Star for first time in his career

When Pablo López was called into the manager’s office before Saturday’s game, the starting pitcher thought he was being summoned to discuss how he would stay on schedule over the upcoming All-Star break. He was half right — Rocco Baldelli did want to talk to him about the All-Star break. The manager wanted to tell him to cancel whatever plans he had already made because he was going to Seattle, instead.Getting the news he had been named a first-time All-Star and would represent the Twins this upcoming Tuesday in the Midsummer Classic alongside Sonny Gray was a surprise to López — an extremely welcomed surprise.López has been a devoted watcher of the All-Star Game since his childhood.
