Thursday night's special meeting was for both the tenant association and the council to discuss what the next steps for the building will be.Those who live there want the owners of the building to transfer ownership, meaning the only business they would have with the building is liability. Gillis family files lawsuit against alleged shooter BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The family of the 20-year-old woman who was shot and killed in Hebron in April has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the alleged shooter and his wife. Court documents show Kaylin Gillis's family is seeking damages from Kevin Monahan and his wife and any other relief the court deems appropriate. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! Monahan is charged with second degree Murder. His attorney has sought to have the criminal charges against him dismissed. NEWS10 reached out to Monahan's lawyer for a response to the lawsuit and have not heard back. Monahan is being held in jail. He is accused of firing two shots toward a car Gillis was in when it accidentally went up his driveway. Gillis was with a group of friends looking for a different house down the road.The defense argues Monahan acted in self-defense.

State Rep. Dafna Michaelson Jenet picked to replace state Sen. Dominick Moreno Democratic state Rep. Dafna Michaelson Jenet will replace outgoing state Sen. Dominick Moreno at the Capitol.Michaelson Jenet will represent Senate District 21, which includes Commerce City, Federal Heights, and parts of unincorporated Adams County. Nearly $200,000 worth of stolen items discovered in L.A. bust Two suspects were arrested after authorities discovered nearly $200,000 worth of stolen items being sold in downtown Los Angeles.The suspects were only identified as a 47-year-old man from L.A. and a 43-year-old woman from Panorama City.The bust was a result of the LAPD's newly formed Organized Retail Crime Task Force.Detectives investigated a retail crime fence that was selling stolen merchandise taken from Victoria’s Secret and CVS stores across the L.A. region.The suspects were selling the items at a “makeshift storefront style display,” police said.Photos from the bust show many tables of stolen items including bras, underwear and clothing from Victoria’s Secret. Thieves hit Nordstrom in Orange County Police in Irvine have released surveillance footage of a man and a woman stealing several thousand dollars in merchandise from a Nordstrom earlier this week.  The incident occurred on Aug. 28 at the Nordstrom in the Irvine Spectrum Center, located at 800 Spectrum Drive.  Video of the theft shows the male suspect running through the store with an armload of merchandise, while the female suspect, also carrying stolen items, follows close behind. A short time later, the pair are seen running up a set of stairs toward their vehicle. Emeryville police searching for person of interest involved in stabbing (KRON) -- The Emeryville Police Department is searching for someone believed to be involved in last weekend's stabbing. Dozens of fluffy, purebred cats have popped up in Montgomery Co. Some very pretty kitties have been popping up, one after the other, in parks and private yards in Montgomery County, Maryland.About two weeks ago, groups of kittens were found along the Sligo Creek Trail, which runs through Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.
