Sinkhole swallows Jeep whole in Weld County

A drone photographer stopped on a Weld County road Saturday to capture the flooding caused by heavy rain.Little did that photographer know, but that decision meant a quick rescue for the trapped occupants inside an upside-down Jeep.A sinkhole opened up on Weld County Road 2 Saturday and swallowed the Jeep whole, according to the Colorado State Patrol.The drone photographer, who happened to be in the area, noticed the Jeep and called 911.Authorities arrived on the scene and removed the occupants trapped inside the Jeep. A motorcyclist lost his life after colliding with a vehicle in Calabasas early Sunday morning. According to CHP, the crash between the car and the motorcycle, driven by an unidentified male, occurred on Mulholland Highway near Las Virgenes Road around 8:53 a.m. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The condition of the vehicle driver is unknown. Mulholland Highway was closed one mile west of Las Virgenes due to the fatal traffic collision, according to a tweet from the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Lost Hills Station. SANTA CRUZ — A San Jose motorist was seriously injured and then later arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after going off a cliff and plunging a pickup truck into the ocean off the Santa Cruz shoreline, the California Highway Patrol said.The crash occurred early Sunday morning along East Cliff Drive, according to a tweet by the CHP Santa Cruz area field office.Photos posted by the CHP show that the white full-sized pickup truck ended up in the water near Pleasure Point Park, about three miles east of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. (KRON) -- A suspected drunk driver was behind the wheel when his truck went over a cliff and landed in the Pacific Ocean near Santa Cruz on Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol Santa Cruz. VIDEO: Police pursue suspects from Vallejo to Suisun City CHP was called to the scene of a vehicle that had traveled off the roadway and over a cliff near East Cliff Drive. A 50-year-old San Jose man was inside the vehicle when it went over, and he suffered "major" injuries in the crash, CHP said. The man was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. (KRON) -- Suspects led police on a chase from Vallejo to Suisun City on Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. H-30 followed the vehicle until the suspects exited and fled on food near Susuin, CHP said. The two suspects were then taken into custody by the VPD.
