Thinking of packing up for Southern California to escape the Bay Area’s sky-high rents? Not so fast.Home rental prices in the San Diego area are now more expensive than in the San Francisco metro, according to a new report by home listing site Zillow. And Los Angles isn’t far behind.The typical monthly rent for available apartments, condos and single-family homes in San Diego hit $3,175 in June. That’s compared to $3,168 across San Francisco and the East Bay.San Jose remained the priciest major market in the country, with a median rent of $3,411. BERLIN (AP) — A German court convicted a Syrian man Tuesday of torturing captives while he was a member of the Islamic State group in Syria.The Berlin regional court found Raed E. guilty of war crimes, membership of a foreign terrorist organization and other offences. It sentenced the defendent, whose surname wasn’t released in line with German privacy rules, to 11 years imprisonment.Prosecutors said the 32-year-old joined IS in 2014 and participated in targeted attacks on the Shueitat tribe in the Deir el-Zour region of eastern Syria.
