Alex Osiadacz | (TNS) Mayo Clinic News NetworkWhere you live, what you eat and how much you drink may tell health care professionals more about your risk of developing kidney stones than you think.Dr. Ivan Porter II, a Mayo Clinic nephrologist, describes intense weather areas, such as the South and Southwest, as the kidney stone belt. This is where research shows kidney stones are more prevalent.Dehydration in these hot climates, combined with certain diets, are increasing risks that can result in the pain of kidney stones. Additionally, Mayo Clinic researchers concluded that diets with daily intake of calcium and potassium may help prevent first-time or recurrent kidney stones. What goes into the body makes its way into the bloodstream, and the job of the kidneys is to filter blood.“They filter out electrolytes and minerals, and sometimes those minerals can actually deposit in areas within the kidney in the urinary tract,” says Dr. Porter. Those deposits are known as kidn...Repeater tax looms large as Nets look to finish building out roster for new season

If the Nets are going to add a player to this roster as-is, that deal is probably going to come in at less than $10 million in annual salary.Welcome to the 2023 NBA offseason, where the Nets find themselves as repeat tax offenders after three seasons chasing championships with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving on the payroll. And with a projected $155.4 million in guaranteed salaries for the 2023-24 season, the Nets don’t have much wiggle room before incurring stiff luxury tax penalties. The Nets were tax payers in 2020, 2021 and 2022, triggering the repeater tax for teams whose payroll skyrocketed above the tax threshold in three of the last four seasons.Traditionally, the luxury tax penalizes teams $1.50 for every dollar spent over the tax line, with that tax amount increasing every $5 million spent over the tax line.As repeat tax offenders, however, the Nets would be paying $2.50 on the dollar for any transaction that takes them up to $5 million over the tax threshold, with the t...Why LGBTQ+ adults should pay attention to heart health

A lot of long, hard hours in the gym and in the weight room to get back into it.”Griner spent nearly 300 days in Russian custody after being arrested Feb. 17, 2022, on drug charges at an airport near Moscow. She was released Dec. 8 after the U.S. government agreed to a prisoner swap. The WNBA kept Griner top of mind while she was being held in Russia, putting her initials and jersey No. 42 on each court. Toronto police have positively identified a man found deceased in a stairwell almost four years ago through genetic genealogy — the same methodology used to ID a four-year-old girl found dead in a Rosedale dumpster in 2022.Authorities said the victim was found dead in a Toronto stairwell on July 18, 2019, in the King Street West area.In September 2020, investigators provided a description of the man with hopes it would lead to his identification. The man was not carrying identification at the time of his death, police noted, adding that the investigation of his fingerprint impressions and missing persons reports did not lead to his identity. An artist’s rendering of the deceased was released to the public to identify him without success.Police then turned to genetic genealogy for assistance. In the fall of 2022, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service provided a biological sample to Othram Inc. in the U.S., where a DNA profile was developed.
