BONNE TERRE / ST LOUIS, Mo. – On Tuesday, a Bonne Terre mother was left worrying if her 3-year-old would live another day after a failed home inspection and a severe case of lead exposure nearly killed him, and left his 2-year-old sister in critical condition.Matters got worse when the hospital did not have the life-saving treatment needed on standby.Kacie Bullard and her son spent days inside of a corner room at St. Louis Children’s Hospital after a diagnosis no one ever expected.“When they told me he was on a hourly basis that he wasn’t on the medication. It can take the turn for the worse at any moment,” she said.Bullard had moved back to the area just months ago with her three children and great grandmother.“I went to the St. Genevieve Health Department to sign up for WIC, and they do a hemoglobin test,” she said.Young Oliver and his sister were diagnosed well above the average for lead toxicity. DES PERES, Mo. – The leashes were not on for long at The Lodge Aquatic Center in Des Peres, as dogs of all shapes and sizes took to the outdoor pool."It's a lot of fun to see the dogs get in,” said Dylan Thomas, Lodge Des Peres.Every year, area pools end the summer pool season with a doggy swim filled with tennis balls, dog floaties, and the occasional uncontrollable bark of joy."After we close it up, we have the dogs come in for an enjoyable swim,” Thomas said.It was $10 per dog parent at The Lodge Outdoor Pool Tuesday. Authorities with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are asking for the public’s help in locating a 36-year-old man missing out of Rancho Dominguez. Deandre Demetrius Marry, who frequents the areas of Carson and Compton, was last seen on the 19000 block of South Laurel Park Road, near Alameda Street, in Rancho Dominguez at around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, LASD’s missing person bulletin stated. The 36-year-old is described as a Black male, standing 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing around 150 pounds, with black braids, brown eyes and a full beard. Riverside County officials declared a local emergency Tuesday in response to flooding and leakage of unknown materials from a toxic dumpsite.Officials said flash flooding on Sept. 1 had caused a breach of the retaining berm at the Lawson Dumpsite on Torres Martinez tribal land near Thermal.On Saturday, the leakage prompted evacuation warnings for three mobile home parks — the San Jose, Vargas, and Gamez communities.“The Lawson Dump is considered to be the largest toxic dump in California and continues to threaten our communities,” said Riverside County Fourth District Supervisor, V.
