Elderly Man Killed in Rear-End Crash on Via Rancho Parkway [Escondido, CA] 17-Year-Old Arrested After Police Chase Ends in Fatal Crash Near Lomas Serenas DriveESCONDIDO, CA (June 20, 2023) – Friday night, a rear-end crash on Via Rancho Parkway claimed the life of a 60-year-old Encinitas man.Initially, officers reported a white Dodge Charger nearly colliding with their patrol vehicle around 10:50 p.m. after leaving a house party near Kit Carson Park. Another officer spotted the teen driver of the Charger speeding on Via Rancho Parkway toward Interstate 15.Subsequently, the Charger ran past a red light and rear-ended the elderly man’s vehicle near Lomas Serenas Drive.Responding firefighters extricated the man from his vehicle before transporting him to a local hospital.
