NEW YORK (AP) — Yields are rising in the U.S. bond market Friday following a highly anticipated report on the U.S. job market. The U.S. stock market is closed in observance of Good Friday, as are many markets across Europe. That leaves the U.S. bond market as one of the few open to react to the latest jobs update, which showed hiring lost a bit more momentum than expected last month but largely remained resilient. The data was so anticipated because it could offer a big clue for the Federal Reserve, which faces a tough decision on interest rates that will affect the entire economy. Should it keep raising rates in order to drive down inflation that’s still high? Or should it hold off given all the signs of slowing across the economy and stress in the banking system that’s already been caused by the past year’s swift surge in rates?The immediate reaction from the bond market Friday morning seemed to lean toward another hike. Two men are each facing 14 charges following an investigation into a series of vehicle thefts in Mississauga.Peel Regional Police say on April 5, officers recovered seven stolen vehicles from an industrial unit in the area of Meyerside Drive and Dixie Road, near Toronto Pearson Airport.The stolen vehicles included two 2022 Honda CRVs, a 2020 Honda CRV, a 2017 Honda Pilot, a 2015 Toyota Sienna and two 2021 Toyota Highlanders.Police say the registered owners of the vehicles have been notified.Kingsley Mensah, 33, and Clinton Asante, 29, both face seven counts each of possession of property obtained by crime and trafficking in stolen goods over $5000.Anyone with any information about the case is asked to contact police.1 dead, 3 wounded in shooting at Park Forest home

PARK FOREST, Ill., — One person died following a quadruple shooting at a gathering early Friday morning in Park Forest. At around 3:30 a.m., police responded to the 100 block of Fir Street on the report of a shooting.Police said a gathering was taking place at the time and four people were shot.One person was pronounced dead at the scene and two others were transported to a local hospital. JOLIET, Ill. — A Joliet man is being held on $10 million dollar bond for a shooting that left a teen dead and another injured. Police say that 20-year-old Eleuterio Roman is facing three counts of first-degree murder, a count of attempted first degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.According to police, officers responded to a call of a shooting on September 5 last year near the 1800 block of McDonough Street. 1 dead, 3 wounded in shooting at Park Forest home Police found two boys, 13 and 16, who were shot while walking in the area. The 13-year-old suffered a graze wound and the 16-year-old was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where he was pronounced dead shortly after. HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- A Hays County corrections officer was indicted in a deadly shooting of an inmate at a Kyle hospital in December. According to a press release from the Hays County Sheriff's Office, a Hays County grand jury indicted the officer involved in the shooting of Joshua Wright, who was being held pre-trial at the time of the shooting. The officer was identified by Hays County District Attorney Kelly Higgins as Isaiah Garcia, 27. Garcia had worked as a corrections officer for HCSO since 2018. He was on duty guarding Wright when the shooting happened. Garcia was indicted on a deadly conduct charge.HCSO previously said Wright tried to escape while receiving medical treatment at Seton Hospital in Kyle and assaulted Garcia, then ran on foot through the emergency room. DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas (KXAN) -- Hotel rooms are booking up or already sold out ahead of next April's total solar eclipse, according to officials with the City of Dripping Springs. The total solar eclipse, which will occur on April 8, 2024, is one of two that's path will move across Central Texas.The second eclipse will occur on Oct. 14 of this year. That eclipse is an annular eclipse, which according to NASA, occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun during the furthest point of its orbit. It will not completely obscure the sun.Austin will be on the edge of the eclipse, but not within the totality, where the eclipse is at its darkest. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department has identified a man who was killed in a south Austin hit-and-run in December and is asking for the public's help identifying the suspect involved. It happened just after 2 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14 in the eastbound lanes of the 900 block of West Ben White service road. Previous story: Police investigating fatal hit-and-run on Ben White service road The victim, identified by APD as Nelson Anderson, 20, was hit by a vehicle, and the driver of the vehicle did not stop to help, police said. Anderson was taken to a hospital, where he died. Police said the suspect vehicle is either a Toyota or a Pontiac, and it's red in color.
