DENVER (KDVR) — It's not even Thanksgiving yet, but that's not stopping the Denver metro from decorating for the winter holidays. This weekend is filled with Christmas tree lighting celebrations, holiday markets and ice sculptures. The mild weather is here to stay on Friday and Saturday. Fort Myers, Fla. (WSVN) — A fossil enthusiast near Fort Myers stumbled upon an extraordinary find, unearthing a fully intact mammoth jaw believed to be around 10,000 years old from the waters teeming with alligators.John Kreatsoulas, the fossil finder from Fossil Junkies Dig and Dive Charters, expressed his amazement. “I grabbed onto it just to hold on for a second and I realized ‘Wait a second, that’s not a tree, that was a mammoth,'” he said. Fire officials are investigating an apartment fire in Salem early Friday morning that left a man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, officials said.Crews responding to a reported structure fire at 173 Lafayett St. around 6 a.m. pulled an unconscious man from a first-floor unit. A Methuen man was arrested in Texas on Thursday in connection with the robbery of a Salem, New Hampshire Loan Max earlier this year.Nelson Perez, 58, was arrested in Katy, Texas and is being held pending his arraignment and extradition to New Hampshire, officials announced Friday.Officers responding to a reported robbery at the Loan Max at 522 South Broadway learned two employees had been tied up and the suspect had fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. After executing multiple search warrants, Perez was identified as the suspect, according to Salem New Hampshire police.This case remains under investigation and police say additional charges against Perez are likely. SAN DIEGO — The crash was reported to law enforcement just after 6:30 p.m. According to California Highway Patrol logs, a silver Dodge Challenger flipped and rolled down about 200 feet into an embankment near 19000 San Pasqual Valley Road. Help sought to identify person killed on I-5 The San Diego Police Department said the driver of the Dodge was traveling at a high rate of speed when he crossed into the eastbound lane to pass multiple vehicles. The driver was reported to have lost control of his vehicle, veering off the roadway to the left. The vehicle struck a boulder, which authorities say caused the Dodge to flip, cross both lanes oftraffic, and go down an embankment on the north side of the roadway.The driver was pronounced dead at the scene while still inside his vehicle. SDPD's Traffic Division is investigating the crash.Road closures were temporarily in place between San Pasqual Academy and Ramona for several hours, CHP said. PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A lobsterman in Maine jumped from a boat into the water to help save a driver trapped in a sinking car, police said.The car drove into Casco Bay shortly after noon on Thursday, according to police in Portland, Maine. Police and fire crews were able to force entry into the vehicle while it was underwater. The lobster boat was nearby. Manny Kourinos, who was on board, jumped in and helped pull out the driver, police said. The water temperature was about 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius).“I’ve been diving for 20 years now and never been in that circumstance where I had to recover someone from underwater,” Kourinos told WCSH-TV. The 33-year-old driver was listed in stable condition after being taken to a hospital, police said.
