(NEWS10) – This week on Empire State Weekly, a measure that would keep a downstate energy company from dumping potentially hazardous wastewater into the Hudson River passed in the final days of the legislative session. LIVINGSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Police are investigating a fatal crash in Livingston, Columbia County. Two are dead as a result of a car hitting a house on Route 9 in the middle of the night. They said that their preliminary investigation revealed extensive damage to the home and the vehicle. CRESTWOOD, Mo. - Police in Crestwood are investigating after a masked man robbed a local gas station at gunpoint.According to a spokesperson for the Crestwood Police Department, the robbery took place Wednesday at 6 a.m. at the Circle K convenience store and gas station at 8600 Watson Road.Police claim a man walked into the store wearing gloves and a mask, walked behind the counter, and pointed a handgun at the clerk. The suspect threatened to kill the employee if he did not hand over the cash in the store safe, which was open at the moment for a deposit count. ‘Sk8 Liborius’ church skate park burns down The clerk handed over an undisclosed sum of money, and the suspect ran from the store. LOUIS -- Canadian wildfires continue to burn making 2023 one of the worst wildfire seasons in more than three decades, according to the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre.More than 19 million acres have burned across the country. This surpasses the 1989 season which burned around 18 million acres. Canadian wildfire smoke mapYou can track the smoke from the fires as it shifts across North America this summer. A US government website called Air Now has a map that shows the location of the fires and the thickness of the smoke. There are currently 503 active wildfires, 259 deemed uncontrolled according to data from the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre. The wildfires are concentrated in Alberta, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec. A woman was hospitalized after she was attacked by hundreds of bees at her home in Murrieta on Wednesday.Firefighters responded to the home in the 23000 block of Spring Branch Court around 2 p.m. where they found the woman covered by the swarming bees with stings on her arms and head, Murrieta Fire & Rescue officials said.Firefighters were also stung as they tried to help.Firefighters spray foam on a home in Murrieta, Calif. where a woman was attacked by bees.
