Jurors: Gwyneth Paltrow not responsible for 2016 ski crash, awarded $1 PARK CITY, Utah (ABC4) -- Jurors in Park City, Utah, ruled in favor of Gwyneth Paltrow in the eight-day trial over a 2016 ski crash at Deer Valley Ski Resort, awarding her $1 this afternoon, March 30.The jurors ruled that plaintiff Terry Sanderson, 76, was 100% responsible for the crash, despite his claims that Paltrow crashed into him on the slopes, resulting in his four broken ribs and a possible concussion. Paltrow's $1 award for damages came from her countersuit to Sanderson's. Paltrow's defense team argued that Sanderson actually crashed into Paltrow and that any injuries he sustained were his own fault. The verdict came only three hours after closing arguments wrapped.Jurors had to rely on the testimony of expert witnesses who were not on the scene and conflicting eyewitnesses who were. Either way, very scant evidence exists from the actual crash. While there was a lot of discussion about possible GoPro camera footage floating around, possibly on the internet, it never surfaced...

Curbing violence through community partnerships works, but takes money roundtable discussion in Dorchester shows Around a long table at a youth center in Dorchester’s Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood, a group of district attorneys, police officials, state legislators and various community organizers and at-risk youth service providers shared stories about their memories of violence and trauma and how those events change whole families and communities, but they also surveyed various ways out of the cycle.“I think we all can agree there’s no place for youth violence in Massachusetts,” said state Public Safety and Security Secretary Terrence Reidy at the start of the roundtable discussion at the Catholic Charities Teen Center in Dorchester. The discussion would last more than two hours.“How do we get to a point where we can curb it and make an impact and prevent kids from defaulting into a position of going to gangs or hanging out with the wrong crowds or putting themselves in bad positions,” Reidy continued. “One of the key ways is communication, collaboration, but you can’t do that if you don&...

On Opening Day, Red Sox walked before they ran in 10-9 loss On Thursday morning, Alex Cora sat in an interview room filled to the brim with media and spoke about how important it was to start the season off on the right foot.“It’s always good to play good baseball early,” the Red Sox manager said. “I think the brand of baseball was really good (in spring training), and hopefully that translates here.”“Last year is in the past, right?” he asked, hoping the question would become rhetorical in a manner of hours. But on Thursday afternoon, the pitching mostly looked like the same old song-and-dance: off-key and devoid of rhythm. What began as an early 1-1 tie ended as a 10-9 tug-of-war, with the Red Sox on the losing end to the Baltimore Orioles.By the end of the top of the fourth, starting pitcher Corey Kluber and rookie reliever Zack Kelly had combined for six walks and six strikeouts. The half-inning that had begun with a 1-1 tie ended with the Orioles leading 5-1, with all the runs charged to Kluber, who was charged with the loss at the end of...
