As a liberal watchdog group in Colorado begins pushing to have former President Donald Trump removed from the 2024 ballot on grounds that he supported an “insurrection,” Minnesota’s top elections official says his office doesn’t have the authority to make a decision on the issue.In recent weeks, Secretary of State Steve Simon, a Democrat, said he has received hundreds of “emails, calls and letters” about a legal argument based on a section of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution that Trump is no longer eligible to run due to his involvement in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.Secretary of State spokesperson Cassondra Knudson said the majority of the contacts were emails asking if Trump could be removed from the ballot. A search was underway in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday where a male suspect allegedly fatally stabbed a man on a Metro train platform at Pershing Square and then fled the scene on Thursday. Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to reports of the stabbing at the station, located near the intersection of 5th and Hill streets just before 5:30 p.m.At the scene, authorities requested a canopy and crime scene tape. The victim, an approximately 23-year-old male, according to police, was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities told KTLA that the suspect got into an argument with the victim, produced a knife and fatally stabbed him. (KRON) -- A 17-year-old boy from Oakland was arrested on Tuesday after he admitted to killing a man in January, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office said. The homicide happened at about 8 p.m. near 167th Avenue and East 14th Street in unincorporated San Leandro. ACSO believes the incident was a robbery attempt at a drug deal. The victim, Lamar Converse, was shot multiple times and taken to a hospital by a friend who was also there. He died that night. SAN DIEGO -- A 44-year-old Nebraska man died while scuba diving in La Jolla Cove Sunday.Jared Schreck was recovered by San Diego lifeguards after his diving group surfaced without him. He was found unresponsive 15 feet below the surface.
