Chase Claypool will be away from the Bears longer LAKE FOREST, Ill. — On a team where there is drama in a few places after a terrible start to the season, the biggest storyline at the moment concerns one of their wide receivers.Fans didn't see Chase Claypool in uniform or on the sidelines for the Bears on Sunday in the loss to the Broncos, and his absence will be extended. During his news conference on Monday morning, head coach Matt Eberflus confirmed that the wide receiver will not be with the team this week as they prepare for a Thursday night game against the Commanders at FedEx Field at 7:15 p.m. This comes after Claypool was a healthy scratch in the 31-28 loss to Denver at Soldier Field in which the Bears dropped to 0-4 on the season."We just feel that it's best for the team at this time," said Ebeflus of the decision to not have Eberflus with the team this week, which he announced in his opening statement. Broncos coach Sean Payton doesn’t want team to be “content at all” after comeback win vs. Bears The Broncos beat the Bears on Sunday, but they didn’t bask in any kind of glory Monday morning. The workweek started and head coach Sean Payton gave his team a clear message about where it stands heading into preparations for the New York Jets.“I said this to the team just 15 minutes ago. I said, ‘I’m encouraged that we fought back into that game, but man, let’s not finish today when we’re done watching this tape and feel like we’re content at all with how we played,’” Payton told reporters Monday. “(We have) too many things that still are disappointing or things that we have to clean up.”Indeed, Denver gave up 471 yards, 26 first downs and 28 points to a winless Chicago team that entered averaging 250, 15.7 and 15.7, respectively.“Same thing offensively,” Payton said. “We stalled for a period after the first touchdown. We went through a third of the game struggling. That sense of urgency has to exist again this week. We’re going to play against a lot better teams here in the next mo...
