The dogs bark and stare as Kim Jong-kil approaches the rusty cages housing the large, short-haired animals he sells for their meat. Authorities with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department are investigating what led up to the in-custody death of an inmate.According to an SBSD release, deputies at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino discovered 41-year-old Anthony Edward Ramirez hanging inside a cell around 8:42 p.m. Saturday night. Deputies and jail medical staff quickly responded and began life-saving measures, and Ramirez was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Officials with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Investigations Division are handling the investigation into Ramirez's death. Four-Vehicle Collision near Hayden Road Left One DeadSCOTTSDALE, AZ (July 31, 2023) – Wednesday afternoon, a multi-vehicle crash on Loop 101 left one woman dead.On July 26th, at around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to the westbound lanes of the highway near Hayden Road involving a four-vehicle collision.Furthermore, the investigation showed that a Ford pickup tried to merge into the lanes but was not successful causing it to crash into a Chrysler sedan. The collision caused a chain reaction crash involving three more vehicles.For reasons that are currently unclear, the Chrysler rolled over causing the female driver to sustain extreme injuries.Emergency crews arrived at the site of the collision shortly after and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. At Least 4 Seriously Injured after Juvenile Driver Runs Red Light near Marion DriveLAS VEGAS, NV (July 31, 2023) – Thursday evening, 4 seriously injured and 5 others sustained minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash on Owens Avenue.The collision happened at E. WASHINGTON (AP) — The National Institutes of Health is beginning a handful of studies to test possible treatments for long COVID, an anxiously awaited step in U.S. efforts against the mysterious condition that afflicts millions.Monday’s announcement from the NIH’s $1.15 billion RECOVER project comes amid frustration from patients who’ve struggled for months or even years with sometimes-disabling health problems — with no proven treatments and only a smattering of rigorous studies to test potential ones.“This is a year or two late and smaller in scope than one would hope but nevertheless it’s a step in the right direction,” said Dr. Ziyad Al-Aly of Washington University in St. Louis, who isn’t involved with NIH’s project but whose own research highlighted long COVID’s toll.
