Geno Auriemma has seen hundreds of players come through UConn over the past 30 years. The names have changed from Rebecca Lobo to Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore and Breanna Stewart — the standard has not. The eighth-ranked Huskies passed Tennessee on Monday, earning a spot in The Associated Press women’s basketball poll for a record 566th consecutive week, breaking a tie with the Lady Vols for the most all-time.“Players come and go and eras come and go, but what we’re most proud of is that at Connecticut we expect being in that spot,” Auriemma said. “That’s good and bad.”During their 30-year run, the Huskies have never been worse than No. 18 — the team’s ranking in the preseason poll of 1993-94 when the streak started.“Like many things that this UConn program has accomplished over the past 30 years, this ranked streak is something that no one on that team could have fathomed,” said Lobo, who starred on the team that started the run and now is an analyst for ESP...Suspects in Buffs Rose Bowl locker room thefts identified as high schoolers

Local police officers and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue sprang into action following reports of a migrant boat landing in Sunny Isles Beach. The situation unfolded near 100 Poinciana Drive just before 2 a.m., with initial reports indicating a capsized boat and multiple individuals in distress. Live video footage showed a helicopter overhead as it possibly searched for more migrants in the water. Authorities appeared to focus on a white boat that washed up on the shore. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) confirmed 12 people were on the boat, with two people reportedly treated on the scene. One individual is currently being transported to a local trauma center for urgent medical attention. Witnesses shared their accounts of the event. “[We saw] the helicopter and the flashlights in the water and everything,” said a man. “So we saw the boat and DHS and HSI were all over. BRUSSELS — Critics of the EU target of supplying 1 million artillery shells to Ukraine by March — which is increasingly unlikely — have been skeptical since day one. Now, as EU defense ministers gather in Brussels, the blame game is on.“We have to assume that the 1 million will not be achieved,” German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said at the start of Tuesday’s summit of EU defense ministers. When the idea was launched last March, there were worries that it was unwise to put a specific figure linked to a deadline for the ammunition pledge if there was the slightest doubt about the bloc’s ability to hit that target. “The question of whether 1 million was ever realistic was actually the right one,” Pistorius added. “There have been voices that have said, ‘Be careful. One million is easy to decide, the money is there, but the production has to be there.’ Unfortunately, those voices are now right.” The initiative came from Estonia in response to Kyiv’s desperate...Central Perk, Boston’s new ‘Friends’-themed cafe opens for business
