ST. LOUIS - Gabe Gore, who took over as St. Louis Circuit Attorney earlier this year amid Kim Gardner's resignation, will run for his first full term of the office next year. Gore announced his candidacy for the St. Louis Circuit Attorney in the November 2024 election. The announcement comes one day after Gore announced a sharp rise in prosecuting crime within the City of St. Louis. His office says that Gore has prosecuted 45% more cases in his first six months compared to Gardner during the same six-month period of 2022. LOUIS - The St. Louis Cardinals dove into the free agent pitcher's market in the early weeks of the offseason, but haven't finalized any moves during the Winter Meetings, which are set to end Wednesday. The Winter Meetings mark an annual occurrence in which lead executives from the Cardinals and other MLB teams meet to discuss business and potential trades. The meetings began Sunday and run through Wednesday in Nashville.As of Wednesday morning, the Cardinals haven't made any roster changes since the start of the meetings. A Redondo Beach woman was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for bilking Medicare out of $24 million for unnecessary repairs to medical devices like power wheelchairs.Tamara Yvonne Motley, 55, who also uses the name Tamara Ogembe, was sentenced and ordered to pay more than $13.1 million in restitution on Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a news release.Motley was convicted in June of 20 counts of health care fraud, two counts of aggravated identity theft and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.For more than 10 years and through a pair of medical equipment companies registered to her out-of-state relatives, Motley used her role as "de facto owner" to submit "fraudulent claims for medically unnecessary durable medical equipment – mostly power wheelchairs (PWC) – and PWC repairs, many of which were never performed," the DOJ said. Officer Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Collision near Southeast Military StreetSAN ANTONIO, TX (December 6, 2023) – A DWI crash on South Presa and Southeast Military Street Street led to the arrest of Trinidad Huerta, Friday night.Officers responded to the scene at approximately 9:00 p.m., after receiving multiple dispatch calls.An eastbound gray Nissan truck reportedly obstructed a police officer’s path by cutting in front while making a northbound turn at the intersection. Associated PressCLEARWATER, Fla. — Fifty-two endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtles suffering from “cold stun” are rehabbing at four facilities in Florida after a flight on a private jet from the New England Aquarium in Massachusetts.The turtles arrived in Tampa on Tuesday, and 16 were sent to Clearwater Marine Aquarium, officials said in a news release.
