DENVER (AP) — A divided Colorado Supreme Court on Tuesday declared former President Donald Trump ineligible for the White House under the U.S. Constitution’s insurrection clause and removed him from the state’s presidential primary ballot, setting up a likely showdown in the nation’s highest court to decide whether the front-runner for the GOP nomination can remain in the race. The decision from a court whose justices were all appointed by Democratic governors marks the first time in history that Section 3 of the 14th Amendment has been used to disqualify a presidential candidate.“A majority of the court holds that Trump is disqualified from holding the office of president under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment,” the court wrote in its 4-3 decision.Colorado’s highest court overturned a ruling from a district court judge who found that Trump incited an insurrection for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, but said he could not be barred from the ballot because it was un...Turkish league game suspended after team pulls players off field to protest referee decision

ISTANBUL (AP) — The president of a Turkish soccer team ordered his players to leave the field in protest of an officiating decision during a game Tuesday, just over a week after a referee was punched in the face.Halil Umut Meler had been attacked on the pitch last Monday after a 1-1 draw in a Super Lig game between Caykur Rizespor and MKE Ankaragucu. Faruk Koca, who was president of Ankaragucu, resigned and was banned by the Turkish Football Federation for punching Meler. The top-flight returned to action Tuesday and this time was in the spotlight for a match between Istanbulspor and Trabzonspor. The state-run Anadolu Agency reported that Istanbulspor president Ecmel Faik Sarialioglu came to the field and ordered his players off in the 73rd minute. He was upset that the referee did not call a penalty before Paul Onuachu scored to give Trabzonspor a 2-1 lead at Necmi Kadıoglu Stadium.“Despite attempts by Trabzonspor’s president Ertugrul Dogan and several Istanbulspor players to convinc...Esta mujer sufrió un aborto espontáneo y ahora la acusan de abusar de un cadáver, en medio de las duras leyes contra el aborto en EE.UU.

DENVER (KDVR) — The city of Denver is changing how it measures how long the homeless stay in its program to get people indoors.Mayor Mike Johnston said he hopes the new system is more transparent and provides additional valuable data.“We want to show you how long folks have been there and also what the nature of the exits are and why they are happening,” Johnston said. The major change is in how the city measures the number of days an unhoused person remains in the program. Until now, the 14-day mark was key in measuring the program’s progress, but the new mark has been more than doubled to 30 days. Jones didn’t exactly have a plan when the Chicago Cubs hired her in August 2016 as the executive assistant to then-president of baseball operations Theo Epstein and then-general manager Jed Hoyer.“I never knew that it was necessarily possible or how to get there,” Jones told the Tribune, “and so when I found my foot in the door to the EA position, I just told myself, ‘Title aside, let me see what the Cubs need to do and how I can help make an impact.’“That being said, I knew that the EA title and EA role didn’t have a very traditional trajectory out, and so I’ve been intentional to job-craft and ebb and flow with what the Cubs needed and it has taken me to where I am today.”Last month the Cubs promoted Jones, 32, to vice president of baseball strategy, making her the first woman to hold a VP t...Man convicted of murder based on testimony of blind witness wins freedom as prosecutors opt against new trial
