SILVERSTONE, England (AP) — Lando Norris nearly delighted the British Grand Prix crowd with pole position. There was just one problem: Max Verstappen.“It’s always Max. He always ruins everything for everyone,” Norris joked after the Dutch driver beat his time for his fifth pole position in a row on Saturday. The British crowd roared in celebration when Norris briefly took over the top spot late in the qualifying session, before Verstappen went yet faster to take it back by .241 seconds. The result may be routine in Formula One — Red Bull has taken pole in nine out of 10 races — but it followed a session of tension, another failure for Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Pérez, and a moment of jeopardy for the Dutch driver himself.Verstappen made contact with the pit wall and broke his front wing while leaving his garage during a red-flag stoppage in the first part of qualifying. “I just understeered and it just didn’t grip,” he told the team over the radio.Red Bull replaced the wing an...As the summer heats up, so does the job market for teens

This week’s jobs report showed there are far more openings than people to fill them. Now, more businesses are turning to teens to fill open roles this summer.“I don’t know really any industry that’s not actively hiring right now, for big and small roles,” said Patrick Morrissey, the Chief Growth Officer with recruiting firm HireVue.With increasing minimum wages in the D.C. area, your teenager can take advantage and make money while also gaining valuable experience that can pay off in the future, according to Morrissey. He said customers who use HireVue are willing to pay more for better talent.“What we hear from our customers … they’re willing to pay more because they just need good talent and need that talent to show up to work,” Morrissey said. While most summer jobs for high school and college students tend to be waiting tables, working cash registers or babysitting, Morrissey said that is not the case in this job climate.“From a teen pers...Iowa Republicans set Jan. 15 for their caucuses, the first election-year contest as the GOP picks a presidential nominee

Published Wed, 27 Nov 2024 06:26:48 GMT
The Chicago Cubs and shortstop Dansby Swanson are playing it safe with his injury.Ahead of the four-day All-Star break beginning Monday, Swanson went on the 10-day injured list before Saturday’s 6-3 loss at Yankee Stadium because of his bruised left heel. The Cubs recalled infielder Miles Mastrobuoni, who started Saturday at third base. The move is retroactive to Thursday, setting up Swanson to return as soon as July 16 versus the Boston Red Sox at Wrigley Field. Swanson hasn’t played since he sustained the injury Wednesday in Milwaukee.“I mean, unfortunately we’re in this position,” Swanson said Saturday. “I feel like it was almost in a way like a good insurance policy to not lose some of the retroactive days. So it stinks, but we have to make the best decision possible for the group.”The timing sets up Swanson to potentially miss only two games after the All-Star break — if he doesn’t need any more time for his heel to recover.A...Latest news
