LAPD shoots man in chest in downtown Los Angeles At least one Los Angeles Police Officer opened fire on a man and shot him in the chest in around mid-day Thursday in downtown Los Angeles. The man, believed to be 50 years old, was wearing no shirt and was armed with a butcher knife when he was shot in the 1000 block of 7th Street, according to the LAPD.Police called the Los Angeles Fire Department to treat the man's wound.The man's identity and condition have not been released.No further details were available. SoCal residents warned to stay out of triple-digit temps this weekend The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is warning the public about the dangers of the ongoing heat wave, especially in certain parts of L.A. County.Public Health issued an excessive heat warning for the Antelope Valley, including the eastern and western portions, beginning Thursday and remaining in place through Saturday.While it's predicted high temperatures will remain in the triple digits after Saturday, they are expected to fall from the high 100s to the low 100s.Excessive heat warnings for Friday through Saturday were also issued for the northwest L.A. County mountains and the 5 Freeway corridor, east San Gabriel Mountains, Santa Clarita Valley, West San Fernando Valley, and west San Gabriel Mountains and Highway 14 corridor. Smash-and-grab fail: Thieves arrested after driving up dead end A pair of suspects were arrested after stealing lottery tickets from a liquor store in Orange County and leading authorities on a very brief chase, officials said.According to the Seal Beach Police Department, the two suspects, identified only as Zoryon and Marcus of Long Beach, used a crowbar to smash the glass window of West Beach Liquor located in the 400 block of Pacific Coast Highway around 3 a.m. on Tuesday. A patrol car in the area heard the store’s alarm sounding and upon arriving on the scene, located the two suspects fleeing the scene in a black Nissan Altima. Armed suspects steal cash from 24-hour business in El Segundo  Authorities are investigating after thieves robbed a 24-hour business in El Segundo. According to the El Segundo Police Department, the robbery took place early Thursday morning at a business in the 900 block of Main Street.The suspects entered the business, pointed a handgun at the employee and demanded money, ESPD said. They were able to flee the scene with an unknown amount of cash.  Thieves arrested after stealing lottery scratch off games from O.C. liquor store, driving into dead end, police say No one was injured during the incident and no description of any suspects has been released. The El Segundo Police Department is handling the investigation. Anyone with information regarding the armed robbery is asked to contact Detective Anthony Sanchez at 310-524-2263.

Instead of traditional payment methods, Amazon One allows customers to hover their palm over an Amazon One device.
