PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- The Pittsfield restaurant formerly called Joanne's Elm Street Luncheonette has reopened under new ownership and has a new name. Owner of the Luncheonette, Joanne Longton, closed the restaurant on January 30. "After 48 years in business, it’s time for me to lay down my spatulas and enjoy life," said Longton in a Facebook post. "It’s been an amazing journey. I’ve made great friends during my time here and will never forget you all."Longton soon after announced that Shelly Strizzi would be taking over the restaurant. Strizzi has over 30 years in the restaurant business and previously worked at the Luncheonette. BELLEVILLE, Ill. - Investigators have identified a vehicle of interest in connection with a recent homicide case in Belleville, Illinois.According to Master Sgt. Shane Brown, deputy commander of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, Belleville police were called to a home in the 400 block of South 29th Street just after 1:20 a.m. Sunday.Officers found a man inside the residence dead of a gunshot wound. The victim was later identified as Paul Kirby. BRANSON, Mo. - A woman is suing Silver Dollar City for damages, claiming she was injured on one of the theme park's rides in 2021.The lawsuit, which was filed on Thursday, explains that the plaintiff was a visitor at Silver Dollar City in August of 2021 when the incident occurred. The lawsuit does not describe how the injuries occurred but claims that the ride was unsafe and Silver Dollar City neglected to ensure the safety of the ride at the time of the incident. Denver continued its free agent haul Wednesday by agreeing to a two-year contract with former Houston defensive back and return man Tremon Smith, a league source confirmed to The Post.Smith is getting a $1.4 million signing bonus and has base salaries of $1.1 million in 2023 and $1.99 million in 2024. He can earn up to $510,000 in active roster bonuses in 2023 and then up to an additional $1 million in incentives in 2024.Smith, 26, has spent the past two seasons playing for the Texans and has also spent time with Indianapolis, Green Bay and Kansas City.He played in all 34 games for Houston over the past two seasons, starting two games each year. Members of a union that represents Los Angeles Unified School District workers along with the United Teachers of Los Angeles plan to announce dates of an upcoming strike at a rally Wednesday evening.SEIU Local 99 members voted in February to authorize a strike and thousands signed a strike commitment saying they are ready to take action.“LAUSD has continued to harass and threaten SEIU Local 99 members engaging in union activities for a fair contract. Vehicle Collision near Southern Avenue Left One FatalityTEMPE, AZ (March 15, 2023) – Sunday night, one person died following a vehicle accident near Country Club Way, police said.The incident happened on March 12th, just after 5:00 p.m., involving two vehicles.According to Tempe Police, they have learned that one of the vehicles was driving at high speed which caused the collision.As a result, one person died at the scene and three other people were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.Also, the crash resulted in downed power lines with an unknown number and one of the vehicles was engulfed in flames.Furthermore, both directions of the roadway were temporarily shut down.Consequently, motorists were to avoid the area, and traffic delays were expected.
