ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) -- Experts say during the Covid era, Medicaid enrollment increased by nearly 30%. Now that the public health crisis is over, officials are urging New Yorkers to renew their eligibility or shop around for coverage if they’re no longer eligible. During Covid, Congress prohibited states from dropping anyone from Medicaid regardless of eligibility. This protected health coverage for many people over the past three years. But with the pandemic over, that process has changed. HERKIMER, N.Y. (WUTR) — Police arrested a Herkimer man after an investigation into a missing child out of Sullivan County. At about 9:30 p.m. on June 5, Herkimer police found out from state police that a 13-year-old girl—from Herkimer but placed by court order in Swan Lake in Sullivan County—was missing. GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) - The city has been separating some of its water from the rest of the flow. Over the last several years, a $17 million project has separated stormwater from the Glens Falls sewer line - and the change has gone on to pay dividends. The process has reduced the amount of sewage to bypass (overflow) through the Glens Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant and into the Hudson River by as much as 85%. 50% fewer bypasses have been seen overall, according to Mayor Bill Collins. Sewage that does make it into the plant is blended with treated water and let into the Hudson River, at what the city says is a minimal impact on the water.The short version: Separating the flows into their own sets of pipes means less sewage getting caught up in the stormwater flow and making it into the Hudson River. HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Tuesday, the Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested Nicholas M. Hafner, 36, on an arrest warrant. Hafner was arrested for criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree. He was arraigned in the Washington County Court on June 7 and released on his own recognizance.At the time of his arrest, Hafner was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.
