After seven hours on the scene, police wrap up their investigation of a deadly overnight shooting in a Lauderhill neighborhood.The Lauderhill Police Department received calls for help around 11:26 p.m. on Saturday after reports about several people being shot after a party along 3170 Northwest 2nd Street. “I saw about 30 shots on the ground,” said a witness. Upon arrival, officers discovered four adult gunshot wound victims. Lauderhill Fire Rescue and BSO rescue transported two of the victims to Broward Health Hospital in Fort Lauderdale with non-life-threatening injuries. The third victim was grazed in the lower back and treated on scene and the fourth victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.Investigators placed more than 50 markers for the evident barrage of gunfire, most of which have been identified as shell casings. “My mom called me to say somebody came and shot up my house. The National Weather Service has issued a Tornando Watch for much of New England as a series of powerful storms move through New England on Sunday.The watch is in effect until 3 p.m.Tornado warnings already have been issued for several parts of Massachusettts and southern New Hampshire due to rotating cells inside severe thunderstorms. An after-school boxing program in Revere provides an outlet for young students to destress.The Revere Boxing Outreach program in Revere is a nonprofit run by volunteers and is now in its second successful year.Joe Singer, a school resource officer for Revere Public Schools, said the program all started in his office.“I keep my door open and the kids would walk by on the way to gym or classes and they’d see me hitting the bag,” he said, “and a couple of freshmen would be like ‘hey that’s awesome can we go in and hit the bag sometime?’“One bag turned into two, and two bags turned into four, next thing you know we’re running a little boxing class right out of my 20 by 20 office,” he said.Singer then received a grant to start the boxing gym inside of the empty McKinley School. According to prosecutors, the defendants were part of a nationwide network of people who bought and sold remains stolen from the medical school and an Arkansas mortuary. One of those charged, 55-year-old Cedric Lodge, of New Hampshire, allegedly took dissected parts of cadavers that had been donated to Harvard in a scheme that started back in 2018, prosecutors said. ROME (AP) — A wing of a three-story apartment building collapsed Sunday in a seaside suburb of Naples, and three people were pulled out alive from the rubble, Italian officials said. “As of now, there are no indications of people missing,’ said Luca Cari, a spokesperson for Italy’s national firefighters’ corps, of the collapse of the building in Torre del Greco, a town 12 kilometers (7 miles) from Naples. Firefighters initially said they pulled out two survivors, and later a local interior ministry official confirmed Italian media reports that a third survivor was rescued. MADRID (AP) — More favorable weather conditions have helped firefighters slow down the advance of a wildfire on La Palma in Spain’s Canary Islands that has forced the evacuation of more than 4,000 residents, authorities said Sunday. The blaze, which started Saturday, has affected an area of about 4,600 hectares (11,300 acres) and burned some 20 houses and buildings.Authorities urged people not to go near the area on the northwest side of the island.Tourism Minister Héctor Gómez told reporters that thanks to the efforts to combat the blaze overnight, the outlook for bringing it under control had improved.More than 300 firefighters have been deployed and nine water-carrying helicopters and two planes are being used to try to extinguish the fire.
