ST. LOUIS - St. Louis may be on the verge of following in the footsteps of St. Charles County and installing a new $10 million intersection safety measure that would make intersections safer for emergency vehicles and motorists. It would turn the lights green to let emergency vehicles through and red for everyone else. St. Louis Board of Aldermen President Megan Green voted on the measure last year, but it fell short."Definitely yes, my office is working in collaboration with the mayor’s office on a comprehensive automatic traffic enforcement safety plan," she said. "That plan would involve red light cameras, potentially speed cameras, and also the ability for intersection lights to change if there’s a first responder vehicle that is approaching that intersection." (BCN) -- A driverless car company operating in San Francisco and a company that supplied it human test drivers have taken a dispute over who should pay for an accident to federal court. The case seems likely to prove that no matter how many human drivers are displaced by autonomous driving technology, at least an equal number of jobs will be created for lawyers. The autonomous car company Cruise LLC sued Thursday in U.S. District Court in San Francisco claiming that Actalent Inc., a Maryland company that provided test drivers for its vehicles, should pay for the cost of a 2019 accident. The dispute arises from a collision on Sept. 5, 2019, when Jonas Judd, a San Francisco resident, was on a scooter stopped at a red light, facing south, at the intersection of Gough, Haight and Market streets. In a brief order issued Friday evening, the U.S. Supreme Court paused harsh limitations on a key abortion drug while the case plays out in a lower court, leaving access to the medication unchanged for now.The restrictions, which were set to take effect at midnight, would have had sweeping and detrimental consequences for already-strained abortion access nationwide. The 7-2 Supreme Court ruling, with Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas dissenting, ensures that the critical drug will remain available until further review by the conservative 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, which plans to hear oral arguments on May 17. Legal experts note the case could make its way back to the Supreme Court in the coming months. The drug mifepristone — part of the most common method of pregnancy termination in the U.S. — is at the center of an ongoing legal battle between the Biden administration and ideological right-wing judges and advocacy groups who want to see its availability severely diminishe...Islanders’ record 4-goal outburst seals 5-1 win over Canes
