She had entered hospice care last month.“She passed last night in peace surrounded by loved ones,” said her nephew Joe Deer, one of her primary caretakers. “We miss her, but what a life she led.”Born August 7, 1935, on the Menominee reservation in Keshena, Wisconsin, Deer is remembered as a trailblazer and fierce advocate for tribal sovereignty. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Antioch Police Department officers collected "trophies" from crime scenes and displayed the mementos on a mantle, according to a grand jury indictment unsealed after an FBI raid. Ten current and former Antioch and Pittsburg police officers were simultaneously arrested in a multi-state FBI raid Thursday. A federal grand jury handed down four indictments stemming from an 18-month investigation into East Bay law enforcement. The officers are accused of committing a slew of crimes involving multiple conspiracies and coverups. Three Antioch police officers, Eric Rombough, Morteza Amiri, and Devon Christopher Wenger, are charged with "a disturbing litany of civil rights violations," U.S. Attorney Ismail Ramsey said."The defendants boasted about their illegal use of force. DENVER (KDVR) -- Calling all spider lovers, it's almost time that tarantulas crawl across southeast Colorado for their mating season. FOX31 spoke with a tarantula expert for the top spots you might catch a glimpse of the tarantula "mate-gration." During Colorado tarantula migration, females see males as a tasty snack Sara Stevens, the director of animal collections at the Butterfly Pavilion named a few places she expects to see the 5-inch spiders:Comanche National GrasslandYour best bet is to go to the grasslands for tarantula viewing. Stevens says the grasslands are a place where there are usually higher concentrations of tarantulas. DENVER (KDVR) -- The Great American Beer Festival just released its lineup for September. Last year, there were 500 breweries and almost 10,000 beers in the competition. This year, there's a lot more beer to sort through, so FOX31 picked out a few standouts you need to try at the festival: 20 of the best breweries in the Denver metro area Buck Wild BrewingBased in Oakland, CA, this brewing company won gold at the festival last year. It presented the Alpenglow which is a hazy IPA. You can find it at booths 14-15 this year. Morgan Territory BrewingTest out HopTomic, which won gold at this year's WBC. It's a double IPA with hints of Citrus, Pine and Resin. Real Ale Brewing CompanyFiremans #4 is another gold winner to try out at the festival.
