“THIS IS A TEST": If you have a cellphone or are watching television Wednesday, that message will flash across your screen as the federal government tests its emergency alert system used to tell people about emergencies. The Integrated Public Alert and Warning System sends out messages via the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts. All U.S. cellphones, TVs and radios will receive an alert on Oct. 4: Here’s why The Emergency Alert System is a national public warning system that's designed to allow the president to speak to the American people within 10 minutes during a national emergency via specific outlets such as radio and television. And Wireless Emergency Alerts are short messages — 360 characters or less — that go to mobile phones to alert their owner to important information. While these types of alerts are frequently used in targeted areas to alert people in the area to thing like tornadoes, Wednesday's test is being done across the country. The test is slated ...Enliven Your CBD With Citrus — A Primer On The Terpene Limonene

Read the original article about the Terpene Limone here.Although cannabinoids are endlessly fascinating, they aren’t the only compounds in the hemp plant. Indeed, if it weren’t for chemicals known as “terpenes,” hemp strains wouldn’t have any distinctive aromas. While terpenes aren’t unique to cannabis, they play a significant role in determining a strain’s effects and taste. If you’ve purchased high-quality hemp flowers, vape carts, or CBD prerolls, you’ve probably run across the terpene “limonene” in lab reports. Along with myrcene and beta-caryophyllene, limonene is considered a “primary terpene” because it appears in many hemp strains. So, what does a high limonene concentration mean? How does this terpene affect a hemp product, and is it the best choice for your CBD goals? How Does Limonene Influence CBD Hemp Flowers? You don’t have to be a chemistry professor to guess what limonene smells like. Three weeks after the federal government approved the latest COVID-19 vaccine, the rollout has been rocky.Even as the number of cases climb, delayed vaccine deliveries are being reported by CVS, Walgreens, Kaiser, long-term care facilities and other providers, causing consumers to wait for appointments.“There are supply issues,” said Los Altos geriatric specialist Dr. Mehrdad Ayati. “We have a backorder situation.”For patients under age 12, the vaccine is not available yet. Manufacturers and distributors got out the adult vaccines first, CDC director Mandy Cohen told reporters last week. Pediatric vaccines require different dose sizes and packaging. The CDC recommended on Sept. 12 that everyone ages 6 months and older get an updated vaccine, after the shots were cleared by the Food and Drug Administration. The reformulated shot, developed by Pfizer and Moderna, can better help fight off infection because it is designed to protect against the variant XBB.1.5, a recent desce...Does your child have head lice? By Jocelyn Solis-Moreira | CNNMarianne had a phone call she would never forget. Her daughter’s preschool called and asked her to pick up her child because she had lice.As someone who had never dealt with lice growing up and whose older daughter had sailed through childhood without the problem either, she was not too sure she’d find. (Marianne didn’t want to use her last name to protect her family’s privacy.)At first glance, 4-year-old Anna looked fine — save for the occasional itch. It wasn’t until one of the school staff parted her hair that Marianne noticed the pesky critters nested in her daughter’s hair. For the next few weeks, Marianne tried all kinds of treatments, only for the lice to keep coming back.“I couldn’t emotionally deal with my disgust at the entire situation,” she said. “I wanted to burn my house down.”Any parent dealing with head lice can probably relate to this situation. These parasitic insects burrow deeply to the root of hair and suck the blood from people’s s...49ers Week 5 mailbag: Is MVP honor McCaffrey’s path to Hall of Fame?

SANTA CLARA – Deion Sanders would have been an ideal host for this week’s 49ers mailbag, before the Dallas Cowboys visit for Sunday night’s game at Levi’s Stadium. Alas, he’s busy in the college ranks, so, just believe we’ll do our best to answer these social media questions:When will CMC become a true Hall of Famer? (@jbati_8052)Good to know we’ve already jumped from Christian McCaffrey being an NFL MVP candidate to a Canton-bound legend. What a great (and necessary) stepping stone that would be if he becomes the first running back since Adrian Peterson in 2012 to win league MVP. McCaffrey is enjoying the NFL’s best start this season (459 rushing yards, 600 total yards, seven touchdowns). There are SO many games still to play this season. And Roger Craig, the pioneer of the 1K/1K fraternity that includes McCaffrey, is still waiting for his Pro Football Hall of Fame entry (see: Class of 2025). For what it’s worth, McCaffrey rates 107th among running backs on ProFootballReferen...Prep volleyball roundup: St. Francis, Sacred Heart Prep, James Logan, Lynbrook and Menlo-Atherton among winners

By Christian Edwards, Katie Hunt and Ed Upright | CNNThe 2023 Nobel Prize in chemistry has been awarded to a trio of scientists who worked to discover and develop quantum dots, used in LED lights and TV screens, as well as by surgeons when removing cancer tissue.Moungi Bawendi, Louis Brus and Alexei Ekimov were lauded as “pioneers in the exploration of the nanoworld” by the Nobel committee for chemistry as it announced the prize in Swedish capital Stockholm on Wednesday.“For a long time, nobody thought you could ever actually make such small particles. But this year’s laureates succeeded,” said Johan Aqvist, chair of the committee.Heiner Linke, a member of the chemistry committee, explained at the announcement ceremony what made the laureates’ work so revolutionary.“The core thing about quantum dots is that, just by changing their size… you change their properties, for example their color. This is completely unusual,” Linke said.“If you imagine, for example, you want to dye T-shirts...Latest news
