CENTENNIAL, Colo. (KDVR) — It's quite the pickle for Centennial City Council as community members packed chambers Tuesday to defend their sides on a proposed moratorium surrounding pickleball courts. The City of Centennial was voting on a moratorium that would put a six-month pause on constructing new outdoor courts within 500 feet of residential neighborhoods. The moratorium was approved in an 8-to-1 vote Tuesday night.Officials told FOX31 says this comes after receiving several new proposals to create new outdoor courts, some near residential areas. “It's not a war on pickleball, this is this is simply that we don't have the regulations in place based on the research that we've done to effectively mitigate the noise and other potential impacts,” Centennial's Director of Community and Economic Development, Neil Marcinaik, said. “So this is a -- it's a brief pause to study the issues and develop some regulations, if necessary.” Family waiting for a heart transplant for 20-month-old ...Western sites good for spring skiing

What about planning a late season western ski/ride trip?Out there, with many resorts experiencing record snowfall seasons, you will absolutely be able to find great snow well into late April and possibly early May.That said, most resorts – even if covered in snow end to end – don’t remain 100 percent open (staffing challenges and other things can get in the way of that). But spring skiing is worthy even if you have less trails to choose from.A great thing about spring in the west is the ability to do both winter and summer sports on the same day. Some great choices at spots that tend to stay open include:Banff/Ski Big 3: Of Banff’s beautiful three ski resorts (https://www.skibig3.com), Lake Louise and Sunshine Village stay open the latest, with both pushing well into May. What’s great here is that up on the peaks you’ll find lots of snow but down in the town (arguably one of the most beautiful ski towns on earth), it’s just enough warmer for things like spring hikes and even rounds o...NBPA VP Jaylen Brown: Nets’ Kyrie Irving suspension violated CBA

National Basketball Players Association Vice President Jaylen Brown called the nature of the eight-game suspension the Nets handed Kyrie Irving in November “unjust,” and said it violated the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement.”“That’s my job as vice president of the union,” Brown said in an interview with The Ringer’s Logan Murdock. “The union is supposed to be an entity to protect the players, especially their rights and their freedom of speech. I feel like what the Brooklyn Nets did — I still feel the same way — it was inappropriate. I think it was like a public ransom note almost, in a sense, where he had a list of demands he had to do to return to the game. It was a violation of our CBA. It’s a violation of our agreement and kind of got looked over like it was nothing.”The Nets suspended Irving a total of eight games for “failure to disavow antisemitism” after the star guard posted a lin...Asian shares advance on back of Wall Street rally

By ELAINE KURTENBACH (AP Business Writer)BANGKOK (AP) — Asian shares advanced Wednesday after a Wall Street rally led by the banks most beaten down by the industry’s crisis. Oil prices fell back and U.S. futures were little changed.Investors are awaiting an interest rate decision by the Federal Reserve, which is expected to temper its efforts to tame inflation given the recent turmoil that has wracked the banking sector. Some of Wall Street’s fear washed out after U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said the government could offer the banking industry more assistance if needed. Most economists expect the Fed to announce a relatively modest quarter-point hike in its benchmark rate, its ninth hike since March of last year.Markets around the world have pinballed sharply this month on worries the banking system may be cracking under the pressure of the fastest set of hikes to interest rates in decades. This week’s rally now runs into a huge test with the Fed deci...Celtics finish road trip strong, dominate Kings in best performance since All-Star break

Before the Celtics took off for their longest road trip of the season, they stressed a sense of urgency. They knew they weren’t playing up to their standards, and they recognized the importance of correcting their inconsistencies with the playoffs coming soon.“For us, being able to know that we don’t have any games left in the regular season, that we need to come together, and we need to start acting like this is it for us and every game matters and get into that rhythm,” Marcus Smart said before the trip. The six-game journey wasn’t perfect. They dropped a game to the Rockets, the worst team in the Western Conference. Bad habits haunted them in a brutal loss to the Jazz. But on Tuesday, they finished the stretch with a much-needed statement. Against one of the hottest teams in the league, the Celtics picked a good time for their best all-around performance since the All-Star break with a dominant 132-109 victory over the Kings. It was one game – and the Celtics still need to sh...Latest news
