(KRON) -- Police are investigating a stabbing that left a 10-year-old girl dead in East Oakland on Monday morning, the Oakland Police Department confirmed to KRON4. Two victims identified in fatal crash on Hwy-101 in Sunnyvale In a press conference held near 45th and Bancroft avenues for the homicide investigation, OPD interim Chief of Police Darren Allison stated that OPD received a call about a possible shooting or stabbing in the 4500 block of Bancroft Avenue. Police found a bloody knife at the scene when they arrived. The original caller notified officers that the suspect had killed the victim. Officers forced their way into the residence, where they found the 10-year-old girl with severe injuries. The officers attempted to provide medical aid, but after emergency medical personnel arrived, the child was pronounced dead. (AP) — The Super Bowl will return to the Bay Area in 2026 at the home of the San Francisco 49ers, following a vote of approval by NFL owners on Monday at their spring meetings.This will be the third time for the big game in the Bay Area. Levi’s Stadium, which opened in Santa Clara, California, in 2014, hosted Super Bowl 50 when Denver beat Carolina. The 49ers won Super Bowl 19 at Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto when they beat Miami after the 1984 season. (AP) — A small college in central Missouri has announced it will add football and women’s flag football programs as part of its plan to grow enrollment.William Woods University will add about 140 students between the two new sports, athletic director Steve Wilson said Monday. Scholarships will be offered to cover a portion of the players’ cost of attendance.The school’s total enrollment was about 2,100 in 2022-23, Wilson said, but fewer than 1,000 attended classes on campus.“It’s no secret in higher education you need to be creative with enrollment and find ways to have quality students on campus,” Wilson said, “and athletics is that vehicle in many cases.
