The city of St. Paul will pay out more than $634,000 to settle a series of lawsuits filed by roughly 200 plaintiffs seeking reimbursement of their street maintenance fees.The lawsuits, grouped into six major claims, were filed by two attorneys, the late Jack Hoeschler and Ferdinand Peters, who assumed Hoeschler’s clients following his illness. (NEWS10) -- The Sons of the American Legion Blanchard-Currey Post 1040 and the Bethlehem Memorial VFW Auxiliary Post 3185 will have their first 5K run and two-mile walk on Sunday, May 28. The run will start at 9 a.m., with the walk at 10:30 a.m., and the start and finish lines at the American Legion, located at 16 W Poplar Drive in Delmar. HUDSON FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Police have arrested a 15-year-old juvenile following a reported burglary at Calamity Janes Firearms and Fine Shoes early Monday morning. Police say a burglar alarm at the store went off around 1:52 a.m. Responding units from the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Hudson Falls Police Department observed the suspect fleeing on foot. Police caught the suspect on Feeder Street. Investigations determined that the suspect forced their way into the store by breaking a front window. Police say there were several broken display cases. Responding units discovered 3 acres burning and requested support from the Ghent Fire Company and the Chatham Fire Department. Police are looking for a man who allegedly used a permanent marker to vandalize an Islamic Center in Koreatown with hateful comments over the weekend.The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. Sunday at the Islamic Center of Southern California, located at 434 S. Vermont Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. A man who allegedly vandalized an Islamic Center in Koreatown is seen in surveillance video released by the LAPD on April 10, 2023. During California's prolonged, wet winter, beekeeper Gene Brandi said he had to spend twice as much money on a sugary syrup to feed his honeybees and keep them alive.That's because the bees sent to pollinate blooming almond orchards took longer than usual to emerge from their hives due to chilly temperatures, wind and rain. Since the bees weren't out gathering nectar and pollen for nourishment, the 71-year-old beekeeper provided sustenance for them.“We probably fed twice as much than we’ve fed in a normal year,” said Brandi, of the Central Valley community of Los Banos. “It’s expensive to feed, but it’s more expensive if the hive dies.”The challenge is one of many faced by America's beekeepers following the unusually wet winter that ravaged California's farm country, which feeds much of the nation.
