BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — It’s been more than a decade of disappointments for Spain following the team’s golden era that netted the 2010 World Cup title and two European championships. Now, with a new coach in charge, the team that once took a possession-based attack to its maximum expression with its “tiki-taka” passing style will have yet another chance to breathe new life into a system that again looked outdated at last year’s World Cup. Luis de la Fuente has made it a priority to solve the team’s scoring problems since he was promoted from Spain’s Under-21 team to replace Luis Enrique in December, and he will get his first test on Saturday in Malaga when Spain hosts Norway in their first qualifying match for the 2024 European championship. Three days later, Spain will play Scotland in Glasgow. De la Fuente has overhauled the squad that only managed one win in Qatar and went out in the round-of-16 against Morocco. That defeat felt like déjà vu for Spain fans, comi...Brazil’s Bolsonaro hands undeclared jewels to authorities

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WSVN) — Dozens of second graders jumped for joy after one student answered a math problem correctly. The excitement came from the reward the class received after getting the right answer. Their teacher talked about the special moment, Friday morning. “It started with us working in math,” Dwayne Taylor said. Taylor teaches his students in Jacksonville several subjects, including math. Just days ago, he offered an ultimatum if a particular student got a math problem right. “I had told the students that I said, ‘Well, we’re about to get ready to have free time,’ and so, they were like, ‘OK,’ but I told them they have to finish your exit ticket before you earned the free time,” Taylor said. So the class took Taylor up on his offer. The classroom chose 8-year-old Harlie McCary to answer the problem. She got it right and the classroom exploded with joy as another student caught it all on video. Germany has fallen short in supporting Ukraine, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told POLITICO on Friday, lashing out at Berlin as Europe searches for ways to continue arming Kyiv. In an interview following the EU leaders’ summit in Brussels, the conservative Polish leader said the EU’s biggest economy must step up and lead.Germany should be “sending more weapons, sending more ammunition, and giving more money to Ukraine, because they are the richest and the biggest country by far,” Morawiecki said. “They were not as generous as they should have been,” the Polish prime minister said. “I still encourage them to do so.” Over the past year, the EU’s eastern capitals have repeatedly pushed their Western counterparts to move faster to support Ukraine and provide more advanced weapons and equipment. And while powerhouse countries like Germany and France note they have given Ukraine considerable stockpiles of arms, vehicles and money, their efforts have still left so...EU’s von der Leyen to join Macron in visiting China

PARIS — France will prevent civil servants from downloading all types of social media platforms, gaming and video-streaming apps on their work phones because of cybersecurity and privacy concerns, according to a statement released today. The ban, which is effective immediately, includes TikTok but is not limited to the Chinese-owned platform. France’s move follows bans by European institutions and other EU countries such as the Netherlands. Unlike Brussels and The Hague, however, the French government also targets Western apps and platforms from Europe and the United States. “These recreational applications are not designed to guarantee a sufficient level of cybersecurity to be deployed on the administration’s digital tools,” said Digital Minister Jean-Noël Barrot. “TikTok, but also CandyCrush or Netflix are affected by this measure.”Exceptions could be granted for “institutional communications” purposes, the statement adds.
