WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden commended Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez for his country’s collaboration with the United States and Canada to establish migration hubs in Latin America where asylum seekers fleeing poverty and violence in their home countries can apply for protection.The two leaders sat down at the White House on Friday for wide-ranging talks on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, climate change and other issues. MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) -- A traffic stop turned into a drug bust and arrest on Wednesday, the Grand Junction Police Department said in a release. The Western Colorado Drug Task Force and Colorado State Patrol pulled over 25-year-old Ramon Cesena-Valdez, of Grand Junction, on Interstate 70 west of Debeque. The stop resulted in the confiscation of more than 100,000 fentanyl pills and about 75 pounds of methamphetamine, the release said. Fort Lauderdale Police are investigating a shooting and fire at a home that involved a barricaded subject. The incident occurred in the area of Northwest 27th Terrace and 18th Court, just before 8:25 p.m. on Thursday.According to police, they initially responded to a call about a shooting.“The suspect is still inside the building,” said an officer over Broadcastify police scanner.The caller at the end of the that 911 call told dispatchers that his mom was shot and lying in a pool of blood. Police identified the suspect as 71-year-old Richard Kenneth McDonald.The woman has been identified as 71-year-old Gwendolyn Bass-Kemp. Students at several Broward County schools were evacuated due to a threat. Hollywood Police arrived at South Broward High School, located at 1901 N. Federal Highway, Friday morning. According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, a bomb threat was called in to law enforcement . Hollywood Police do not believe the threat was credible. Students were evacuated from the school to the campus baseball field as a precaution. Brockton police responded Friday after police said a person was stabbed at a softball field at Brockton High School.Police said the incident happened after dismissal and remained under investigation as of Friday afternoon.
