ST. LOUIS -- A west St. Louis Resident has been fighting for three years to get the St. Louis Forestry Department to cut down a city owned tree in front of her house on Waterman Street.The City inspected the tree in 2020 said it was dead and would be taken down in six to nine months. The tree is still standing three years later."I'm just disheartened and disappointed. I'm at a road block. I've talked to everyone that I can from the superintendent on up to the mayor's office and the buck just keeps getting passed," said Olivia Pruitt-Payne.Pruitt-Payne worries about the tree falling on her house in a storm. September weather in Denver is off to a red hot, record breaking start.Denver hit a record high temperature at 2:57 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, with a 99 degree reading at Denver International Airport, according to the National Weather Service.The previous record-high temp for the date, 98 degrees, was set in 2019. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating after a University of Southern California graduate student was viciously attacked at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday. Surveillance video from the metro train station showed a suspect attacking Anna S. from behind and hitting her over the head while she was waiting for her train to arrive around 5 p.m. The impact of the punch knocked her out and she didn’t know what happened to her. “Something struck me in the head,” Anna said. “I blacked out. I wasn’t sure what happened, if it happened just to me or to everybody around me. Security video captured a thief escaping with a $1,000 bottle of liquor during a violent confrontation at a Calabasas liquor store.The theft took place on Thursday at Malibu Liquor and Wine on the 4900 block of Las Virgenes Road around 8:19 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.Video shows after a brief confrontation with the store owners near the entrance, the suspect grabs a trashcan to prop himself up to reach above a display shelf.The man quickly grabs a box containing an expensive liquor, worth about $1,000, according to the store owner, before running towards the exit.As the suspect tries exiting the shop, one of the shop owners attempts to stop him while grabbing him. Four people were arrested by Los Angeles Police Department officers after they allegedly stole $5000 worth of merchandise from a store and threatened employees that confronted them.It happened Friday around 10:20 a.m. at a WSS Shoe Store on the 1600 block of W. 7th Street in the Westlake neighborhood.According to LAPD officials, two men and two teen girls entered the store and filled up bags with thousands worth of merchandise and began heading for the exit. HOUSTON (AP) — Houston second baseman Jose Altuve left Friday night against the New York Yankees after one inning because of a bruised left leg.Batting leadoff, Altuve grounded out and then walked gingerly to the dugout. He stopped to chat with manager Dusty Baker for a minute before being approached by the team’s trainer and walking out of the dugout toward the clubhouse with the trainer.He was replaced by Mauricio Dubón to start the second inning. Altuve has been on the injured list twice this season. (KDVR) — An ice cream truck driver is recovering from an attack in Brighton on Thursday afternoon.Lyman Hamlin came across a group of people near Benedict Park, where he was selling ice cream out of a truck, as he usually does. He said someone in the group asked him for a free ice cream on their birthday."I said, 'No, I can't do that. What if the three of us spank you for your birthday?'"
