Changes Coming to this Week’s Weather

Some big changes our ahead to our weather pattern this week in South Florida, and it’s mainly about the return of the breeze! It’s been a stagnant and hot summer but with a stronger breeze in place much of this week with sustained winds near 10-20 mph, that will allow for more bearable conditions when it comes to temperatures. Temperatures all week long will hover near 92-93F in Miami after today. This Sunday, we’ll remain under the influence of a departing tropical wave, which is now located over the Gulf of Mexico. Moisture continues to get drawn in from the Atlantic behind this wave, so that will feed in rounds of quick-moving showers and storms at any time today and tonight. Just like we saw on Saturday, it won’t be a washout but there will be that random risk for seeing rain. Now starting Monday, some drier air will start to come in from the Atlantic, and this entire week will feature bouts of drier air filtering into South Florida with high pressure in co...Solid Summer Sunday

Well, the lower humidity was apparent yesterday, but unfortunately, the early morning sunshine didn’t last long as clouds filled back in, and stubbornly stuck around. Highs maxed out in the mid to upper 70s. The low humidity kicks off today as well, this time, more or the sunshine does stick around. Although, with that said, we’ll have some clouds mix in as well as some wildfire smoke, allowing for a hazy appearance to the sky at times. It’s not near surface smoke, so I don’t expect it to have a significant impact on air quality. Enough sun gets through to push temps in the lower to mid 80s this afternoon. Humidity does go up tomorrow, and it’ll be very warm with highs in the mid to upper 80s. A few isolated late afternoon/early evening showers/storms are possible (Mainly after 4pm). About 20-30% of us will pick up on one. Those isolated storms are ahead of a cold front that’ll drop temps and humidity by Tuesday morning. The Chicago Bulls kick off the 2023-24 season with a home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 25, then host the Toronto Raptors two days later before embarking on their first trip of the year.Last season’s opener took a left turn for the Bulls when Zach LaVine was named a late scratch due to load management — which LaVine and coach Billy Donovan insisted was planned in the preseason — as he eased back from a left knee injury. LaVine went on to record one of the strongest seasons of his career, and he’ll need to improve upon that performance after the Bulls retained the majority of their roster to focus on their maximum-contract star. The focus of the home opener likely will land on who nabbed the starting point guard job — perhaps new signing Jevon Carter, who joined the Bulls from the Milwaukee Bucks. Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu also will be vying for the position. Here are some key dates for the season.Nov. 3: First game of the In-Season Tourn...Spain wins its first Women’s World Cup title, beating England 1-0 in the final

THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) — Greek authorities evacuated another four villages near the northeastern border with Turkey Sunday where a large summer wildfire that has already destroyed several homes over the weekend drew dangerously close. There were no reports of serious injuries to firefighters or residents from the forest blaze near the town of Alexandroupolis, that forced the evacuation of another eight villages Saturday.Strong winds whipped on the flames, and civil protection authorities warned of an “extreme” fire risk Monday in the region around the capital, Athens, and other parts of southern Greece. Some 200 firefighters, assisted by 16 water-dropping aircraft, volunteers and police, were battling the blaze near Alexandroupolis.Local authorities said about half a dozen outlying houses and outbuildings were badly damaged in two of the evacuated villages, as well as a church. LAS VEGAS (AP) — North Carolina junior tight end John Copenhaver gets group text message from his university pointing out the latest betting scandal or reminding him of the importance of not violating rules against betting on sports.“It’s being put in our heads every single day,” he said.Schools feel they have no choice. The spread of legalized sports gambling — and some early scandals — have captured the full attention of athletic departments and conference offices. All major conferences are paying independent betting monitors to make sure their athletes abide by the rules — and catch those who are not.All of this means the personal information surrendered by athletes — birthdays, addresses, Social Security numbers, cell phone numbers — is used in a way unlike the same information shared by their fellow students. Some combination of those details can tip off a betting monitor that something doesn’t look right.“They’re just onboarding and they’re going through the ...Latest news
