WASHINGTON (AP) — The Defense Department and the Federal Aviation Administration have been tracking a balloon that was flying off the coast of Hawaii last week, but a defense official said Tuesday there's no indication it is connected to China or any other adversary, and it presents no threats to aviation or national security.The balloon was first detected by radar on Friday and “Pacific Air Forces launched three F-22s to assess the situation and visually identified a spherical object,” U.S. Indo-Pacific Command said. “We monitored the transit of the object and assessed that it posed no threat.”The defense official said the balloon was floating at about 36,000 feet (11,000 meters), and it did not fly over any critical defense infrastructure or sensitive sites. BAY POINT — A 19-year-old man died Saturday in what authorities are calling a homicide.Authorities identified the man as Jesus Gallegos, of Bay Point. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office was called to the 400 block of Clifford Court about 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, authorities said.The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office was investigating the case. Several messages left for the sheriff’s office spokesman, Jimmy Lee, were not returned. A sheriff’s sergeant confirmed the homicide but declined to give details, referring questions to Lee.The homicide is the third the sheriff’s office has investigated this year. BERKELEY — A man whose body was found Monday evening in the Berkeley Marina was identified by the coroner’s office as a Florida resident recently reported missing by his family and last known to be in the area of the Golden Gate Bridge, authorities said.Authorities said Vittorio Marianecci Sr., 57, of Miami, was the brand manager for an Italian wine company who was last seen in Florida on April 26.His body was found about 5 p.m. Monday floating in the water near the Berkeley Marina by a kite surfer. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Cash App founder Bob Lee had multiple "party drugs" in his system when he was slain, according to a San Francisco coroner's autopsy and toxicology report obtained by KRON4 Tuesday. A chief forensic toxicologist for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner completed a toxicology test on Lee using blood samples. The blood tests detected: cocaine; ketamine and norketamine, also known as "Special K"; alcohol; and Levocetirizine, an antihistamine.The 43-year-old tech executive called 911 at 2:36 a.m. on April 4 and told dispatchers that someone stabbed him in the chest, the autopsy report states. (KRON) -- An office building in San Rafael's Terra Linda area has been evacuated due to a suspicious package that turned out to be rotten fruit, according to the San Rafael Police Department. The UC Berkeley Police Bomb Squad inspected what was originally reported as a "suspicious package with a methane/rotten egg smell," police said.Upon initial inspection, an unusual odor was detected around the package. Bomb squad officers discovered the box contained close to 20 pounds of rotten fruit.
