In the aftermath of a lifeless playoff opener, Bo Byram was careful to differentiate this Avalanche team from last year’s squad. Those Stanley Cup champions? They responded to postseason losses with remarkable poise.“We’re not the same team as last year,” though, Byram pointed out to The Post as a quiet locker room emptied out after a Game 1 playoff loss. He and his teammates have grown tired of the constant comparisons to that title run. This team hadn’t proven anything yet in the face of adversity. This year’s Avalanche unlocked confidence in their ability to respond with a comeback 3-2 win over the Seattle Kraken on Thursday night at Ball Arena. Down 2-0 in the second period and staring at a potential 2-0 series deficit, the Avs found new energy. Their three consecutive goals were capped by Devon Toews’ game-winning rebound with 7:01 remaining in the third. And, as if the game needed any more drama, Colorado killed a penalty in the final thr...Kraken-Avalanche Game 2 Quick Hits: Alexandar Georgiev’s leg, Devon Toews’ wrist drag Avs out of Stanley Cup ditch

For Devon Toews, Game 2 redemption was sweetWhy are the Stanley Cup Playoffs the best postseason tourney in North American sports? Because a Game 1 goat can turn around and become a Game 2 GOAT. Enter Avs defenseman Devon Toews, whose nifty rebound wrister with 7:01 left in regulation gave the defending NHL champs the eventual game-winner and their first lead of the series. Just two nights earlier, the veteran blueliner’s sloppy pass led directly to a Seattle goal in a spirit-crushing, 3-1 defeat in Game 1. As a position group, Colorado’s defensemen still look rusty on the whole. But with Toews’ Thursday night laser and Cale Makar recovering from a slow start to pick up an assist and get into a rare scrap, they’re trending up as they hit road.2. SAN FRANCISCO — Stephen Curry paused after he buried a 3-pointer early in the fourth and pumped his chest Thursday night. Moments later, Donte DiVincenzo picked off the Kings and pushed the ball up the court, with the Warriors’ possession ending with a thunderous dunk by Jonathan Kuminga and a roar from the gold-clad crowd at Chase Center. The Warriors looked like the team they were pegged to be at the beginning of the season. They were locked in on both ends of the floor, made smarter decisions with the ball and were aggressive on the glass. With Warriors superfan and Bay Area rapper E-40 sitting in his usual baseline seats near the team’s bench, Curry’s 36 points and Kevon Looney’s 20 rebounds and nine assists led the Warriors to a 114-97 win and gave Golden State the chance to even the series with Game 4 this weekend. With Draymond Green serving a suspension and Gary Payton II out sick, the Warriors were facing a tough task of containing the Kings...Giants limp home and take it on the chin against Mets

His highlight of the night came on defense in the eighth, when he sprinted back and to his left before snagging a line drive, robbing Josh Rojas of an extra-base hit.The 24-year-old Tatis missed all of last season, first because of a broken left wrist and then an 80-game PED suspension.
