MILWAUKEE (AP) — Yan Gomes hit a grand slam, but the Chicago Cubs were eliminated from postseason contention during a 10-6 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night.Chicago's game was going into the eighth inning when Miami finished its 7-3 victory at Pittsburgh, securing an NL wild card and knocking the Cubs out of the playoff race.It looked as if the Cubs were in good shape for a wild card when they improved to 78-67 with a 5-4 victory at Colorado on Sept. 11. But they dropped 11 of their next 15 games.Before Saturday's victory at Milwaukee, they had lost four in a row by a total of five runs. CHICAGO — The University of Chicago brought science out of the lab and into the community during its South Side Science Festival on Saturday.Maanasa Raghavan, an assistant professor in the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Chicago, helped bring the event to fruition."It's just such a cool feeling to be in a lab and be able to discover something and for those few moments, it's knowledge that only you hold to yourself uniquely and then be able to share with the world," Raghavan said. ST. LOUIS - Four late goals, including two from Klauss, lift St. Louis CITY SC to a home rivalry win over Sporting Kansas City. All four CITY goals were scored after the 70th minute of the games. Video captured four people ransacking a Nike store and stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise in Irvine on Thursday.The suspects were identified by Irvine police as:- Kristen Jamie Himbarger, 19, of Los Angeles- China Celeste Morris, 24, of Highland- Anaiya Syrai Cole, 19, of San Pedro- Unidentified female juvenile, 14Video of the theft shows the suspects entering the store and grabbing armfuls of clothing off store racks and shelves including hoodies, pants, shirts, sports bras, and more.The thieves quickly gathered the merchandise throughout the store before calmly walking out the door.
