Disaster training comes to Washington County Fair

GREENWICH, N.Y. (NEWS10) - The Washington County Fair is well underway this week, with rides, carnival games, animals and more. On Thursday and Friday, visitors to the fair can get more than funnel cake and fun - they can also get prepared for the next time severe weather strikes. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! On Thursday and Friday, visitors to the fair can get Citizen Preparedness Corps training at the entertainment session. Two sessions run by the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services are set to get visitors ready for natural disasters. The program can help residents get ready for disasters before they happen, stay stocked with emergency supplies, and create family safety plans.Sessions are set for noon on Thursday, Aug. 24; and 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25. MAPLEWOOD, Mo. - A St. Louis County man faces felony charges after he allegedly stabbed his uncle in the head earlier this month. Prosecutors have charged Pierre Barthelemy, 23, with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. BTK killer named ‘prime suspect’ in unsolved cases in Missouri, Oklahoma According to court documents acquired by FOX 2, police responded to an altercation in Maplewood city limits on Aug. 16, 2023 and learned of the stabbing. Upon arrival, they found a man who suffered a cut to his head from a knife. Police later found Barthelemy with blood on his hand and recovered a knife suspected in the stabbing. CLEVELAND (WJW) — The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning people to not get too close to pet turtles due to a salmonella outbreak affecting multiple states.As of Friday, 26 people across 11 states have reportedly been infected, the CDC reported. Overall, nine people have been hospitalized. With the exception of one case in California, all cases were reported in the East and Midwest. Tennessee has reported the most cases at six, followed by Pennsylvania at four. Officials have identified the suspected gunman who killed three people and wounded six others before being fatally shot at a popular Orange County biker bar Wednesday evening.
