LEEDS, England (AP) — United States captain Tyler Adams is unlikely to play again for Leeds this season.Adams underwent hamstring surgery in March and Leeds manager Sam Allardyce confirmed Thursday he does not expect the defensive midfielder to feature in the team’s final three games as it battles to avoid relegation from the Premier League.Leeds is in next-to-last place, two points from safety, and hosts Newcastle on Saturday. Leeds then visits West Ham before hosting Tottenham in the season finale. The team has missed the protection Adams gives to its defense, losing six of its nine matches since he last appeared on March 11 and conceding an average of three goals a game in that spell.Adams joined Leeds from Leipzig in the offseason last year. The United States’ next game is against Mexico in the CONCACAF Nations League on June 15.___More AP soccer: https://apnews.com/hub/soccer and https://twitter.com/AP_SportsSourceBalacera en Prince George’s cobra la vida de adolescente; un hombre está gravemente herido

NEW YORK (AP) — Lindsay Berra wanted grandpa Yogi remembered as a constant in Most Valuable Player voting before he was a regular in “Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations.”“He played his last game on May 9, 1965, and then spent nearly 50 years making commercials and coaching and saying funny things on television,” she said. “If you’re under 50 years old, you have no recollection of grandpa as a player at all. But you’ve seen him on television your whole life, right? So I think it’s a recency bias.”“It Ain’t Over,” a 98-minute documentary on Yogi Berra’s life, aims to elevate his playing career alongside his persona as a cultural icon. The Sony Pictures Classics film premiered last June at the Tribeca Festival and opens in theaters in the New York tri-state area and Los Angeles on Friday, which would have been Berra’s 98th birthday. LONDON — An aide to the U.K. Labour Party who was accused of sexual harassment resigned Thursday after POLITICO revealed he was to be let off with a warning. The senior adviser, who was employed by a member of Keir Starmer’s frontbench team, was alleged to have groped a young female intern — a complaint which was upheld by two separate investigations. She complained first to the parliamentary authorities, which resulted in a letter of apology, and then to the Labour Party, which took three years to investigate the case. When the party reached a decision last month they informed the woman he would only be issued with a “final warning” and no further disciplinary action would be taken, leading to an outcry from senior women in the party. However, the party confirmed Thursday the man had quit his post.A Labour spokesperson said: “Two separate investigations were carried out… into the same complaint received about an individual. BRUSSELS — An EU effort to close loopholes that allow Russian oil to flow into the European Union is finding broad support from member countries, officials and diplomats have said.Representatives from the 27 member countries met Thursday to discuss technical aspects of the 11th package of sanctions against Russia — a response to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. According to three people with knowledge of the talks, there is currently no major opposition to stepping up enforcement of existing energy embargoes — even from countries believed to be benefiting from undeclared imports of Russian crude.“Of course this package is different from the others, focusing on circumvention, and it will have a different impact so we are taking our time to look at all the proposals,” said an EU diplomat from a country that has faced pressure to cut energy ties with Russia. “But for us, enforcement isn’t proving to be a major issue — we don’t have red lines on this.”A draft version of the Eur...Smooth Sailing, So Far, In Big Health Insurance Review

State officials on Thursday offered a first glimpse into efforts to redetermine MassHealth members’ eligibility.About six weeks into the process, which is expected to take a year, about 70,000 Massachusetts households have begun the process of assessing whether they still qualify for state-funded health insurance.Hundreds of thousands people are expected to lose MassHealth coverage over the next year as federal coverage requirements in place since March 2020 expired on March 31. As the state redetermines eligibility for the first time since the pandemic began, those who lose coverage will need to find new health insurance plans. Budget writers on Beacon Hill are already factoring into their spending plans massive savings associated with lower MassHealth rolls.About 50 percent of MassHealth members will be automatically renewed.
