SHANDAKEN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Forest Rangers conducted a rescue in the Slide Mountain Wilderness on December 12. Rangers Horn and Sweeney located the hiker at around 7:30 p.m. The hiker, who was in the midst of a two-night backpacking trip, reportedly showed symptoms of mild hypothermia.The hiker was trying to meet his family at the Slide Mountain trailhead but was unable to reach his destination. Rangers cited steep and rugged terrain, snow accumulation, rapidly dropping temperatures, and exhaustion as impeding factors.The hiker was provided hot liquids, food, hand and foot warmers, and assisted to the Slide Mountain trailhead. DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR) -- On December 18 at around 4:39 a.m., a car flipped onto its roof and into several feet of water in a ditch off of I-690 eastbound. The driver, identified as 44-year-old Udayabhanu Anjanappilly of Cohoes, crashed between the Midler and Thompson Road exits. The crash reduced the highway down to one lane for several hours.Anjanappilly was taken to Upstate Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, according to Syracuse Police. FLORISSANT, Mo. - A St. Louis man is facing charges for allegedly shooting his girlfriend during a physical altercation.The shooting took place on Dec. 17, according to the Florissant Police Department.Police claim Quan Rhodes, 31, got into an argument with his girlfriend, which turned physical. Rhodes went to his girlfriend's car and retrieved a pistol. The two struggled over the gun. The woman let go of the gun and a shot was fired.A bullet grazed the woman's leg above her knee. An Adams County man was sentenced to life in prison without parole by an Adams County judge on Monday for fatally stabbing his brother with a sword in 2021, according to the Colorado 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. A new Universal Studios theme park could be coming to the United Kingdom.A Universal Destinations & Experiences spokesperson confirms to KTLA that the company has purchased land in Bedford, a town about 45 minutes outside of London.“We recently acquired land in Bedford and are at the early stages of exploring its feasibility for a potential park and resort at this site,” the spokesperson told KTLA.
